Eighteen artists included in Valley Regional Transit artist roster

The City of Boise is thrilled to share the list of artists selected for the inaugural Valley Regional Transit (VRT) Artist Roster. Eighteen VRT artists, among them 16 based in Boise, will be considered on a project-by-project basis for VRT infrastructure and community sponsorship opportunities for a period of five years.  Projects may consist of but are not limited to artist-designed vinyl wraps for transit shelters and transportation vehicles, bike racks, graphics, posters, and more. Individual project budgets may range between $500-$25,000. VRT will coordinate with community sponsors to identify opportunities and will contract with the artist(s) to complete the projects as funding becomes available. Project Background  The Boise City Department of Arts & History released a request for qualifications (RFQ) on behalf of Valley Regional Transit (VRT) on May 26, 2021. The City received a total of 21 applications by the July 9th deadline. A community-based panel composed of members of the Arts & History Commission, Arts & History Advisory Team, VRT, and representatives from the artist community independently reviewed and scored the applications pursuant to the City’s Purchasing guidelines and criteria to suit the RFQ. After meeting, the committee selected 18 artists. About Valley Regional Transit  The Treasure Valley Regional Public Transportation Authority was formed in January of 1999 when the Boards of the Ada and Canyon RPTAs formally voted to merge the two organizations. Valley Regional Transit (VRT) was adopted as the official name in 2004. VRT is the Treasure Valley’s premier public transportation authority and is responsible for the management of a variety of transportation solutions including public bus transit, specialized van services, paratransit, park-and-ride, and more.
