Valley Regional transit introduces new Game Day Shuttle

VRT is introducing a new event service with a Game Day Shuttle. The free-to-ride service, which will operate for all six Boise State home football games, will stop at seven downtown stops on its way to Albertsons Stadium. “Our aim is to increase mobility when and where the transportation network is stressed, and home games are certainly one of those times,” said VRTs CEO Elaine Clegg. “These events are also excellent opportunities to raise awareness about VRT.” VRT’s Game Day Shuttle will connect Main Street Station, downtown parking garages, and other downtown destinations to Albertsons Stadium and will run two hours before and one hour after each game. Buses are planned to arrive at stops every ten minutes and can be tracked with VRT’s ETA Spot mobile app or at rideVRT.org/gameday. “Over the years, VRT has explored providing bus service to high-demand events in the region,” Clegg said. “There is tremendous potential in our community to provide the freedom to move and a relief to traffic and congestion.” The Game Day Shuttle is the most recent event-based service VRT added to its service options. VRT’s Treeline shuttle has been providing service to and from the Treefort Music Festival since 2019, carrying a record number of riders last spring. Additional service goals have been outlined in VRT’s Transportation Development Plan.
